Intellectual property
How would you feel if someone copied your papers, photos, music, or something else you've worked with, or something that belong to you?
That is what intellectual property is all about, and you can read the definition here!
The video you just saw is about intellectual property, patent and trademark.
What is patent? A patent protects a specific solution to a technical problem. Patents do you get if you stand behind the inventions. Invention must be a practical solution to a problem where the solution has a technical character, technical effect and is reproducible. You can not get a patent on an idea without having to explain or demonstrate how it can be implemented in practice. You can not have a patent on a business concept.
Procedures, products, devices and applications can be patented, such as blood analysis, computer technology and zips.
Many teachers today find out that their students have copied homework, texts, and more from Internet, and provided it as their own work. There are many websites where students can copy in all subjects. Examples of sites:
this, daria, and this. And here is also a page with links to more.
Number of students who cheat are much higher at several of our major institutions last year than ever. And scientists at the University of Oslo is located at the top of the list, according to a survey Aftenposten has done. The penalty for cheating ranges from cancellation of an assignment or examination (small reaction) to expulsion from the institution, and other educational institutions in Norway, in one or two semesters. Plagiarism of text is the kind of cheating that dominates among Norwegian students. Use of cheat patch and mobile phone in the examination also occurs, but far less.
It's not necessarily that there is more cheating now than before, but it is easier to cheat because there are several possibilities. It is also that it is easier to detect cheating today, considering all the applications you can use, such as plagiarism control tool Ephorus.
Ephorus is a text recognition program that compares your essay with previous exam papers and documents posted online. If the program finds similarity between you and someone else's text, you can be caught for plagiarism according to this site.
The univerety in Bergen has made a good film that is about plagiating:
And here is a good presentation about copyright:
There is an organization that works to protect personal property which is posted on the web.
World Intellectual Property Organization (World Intellectual Property Organization - WIPO), the UN special organizations
WIPO's main objective is to promote the development of intellectual property rights worldwide and is the central international organization in this area.WIPO has 182 member countries and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

Information Privacy

Are you in control of what you post online? Do you know who read it, and who sees it?
Many people put out very much information about themselves online. They post photos, information about where they are, what they do and who they are with.
Who has the responsibility to explain what consequences this may have, to children and teenagers?
How can we get kids to understand how wide the internet is and how many people it can reach, and explain what the consequences might be?
As it is today, you can do almost everything over the internet. You can shop, sell, date, flirt, transfer money via online banking, book travel, communicate, and so on ..
Much of what we post about ourselves are often intended for family, friends and colleagues, but such information can easily be intercepted by others. Information we post about ourselves can easily be distributed by others without our consent.
What is about you online?
Over 1000 people in several European countries participated in the survey. Only four out of ten thouht that their home addresses could be found on the web, according to this site . According to Symantec experts can effortlessly find a person's full name, birth date, address, and even pictures of people's houses on the web.

Studies show that young peoples websense seems to improve, according to this site and this book, for teachers in primary and secondary schools. It seems like consciousness is getting better, when it comes to posting photos and personal information is increasing, while other studies according to this book shows an increasing numbers when it comes to random chat with strangers. It is important that parents and teachers continue to focus on this.
It is one thing what they put out about themselves, but many defy the rules and is posting information and pictures of others. Some resources that should be actively used in schools are sites like dubestemmer.no, which is a Norwegian site, ho is a collaboration between the Technology Council, the Norwegian Data Inspectorate and the Centre for ICT in education. The goal is to increase young people's knowledge about privacy and raise their awareness of the choices they make when they are using digital media like internet and mobile phones.
It is through the project made a number of films that will help to stimulate debate and generate interest in the topics.
There is great emphasis on not raising a moralizing finger. The aim of the teaching program is to generate reflection and discussion. The program pops open questions, so that the individual can set limits. If you have knowledge of the consequences of possible choices, one can also take responsibility.
This was a good example on what kind of information anybody can find on the internet!
Other sites that can be very useful, is this site which is about internet sense, ho can help bouth parents, kids and schools. Also this site, ho can answer young people on many different questions.

How can we use ICT in education?
At the school I work, we just had training in the use of smartboard. We now have seven smart boards in our school, one for each class. Interactive whiteboards provide interactivity and engagement in the classroom. In combination with a computer and a projector provides smart board for a dynamic learning environment.
Smart Board was invented in 1991 and is like a school board, only digital tablet that is touch sensitive, and get off the local computer system resources. It is an interactive whiteboard that can save and store information that is written on it, and makes it possible to refer to the notes downloaded from the Internet or other sources. How can we use it?
The training with smartboard will give students an insight into the variety and scope of our work and communicate knowledge and skills for active participation in it. In parts of the work effort depends in particular on human insight and care, in other parts is the use of various technological tools essential. Technology approaches people have developed to achieve their goals, work more easily and collaborate better. Technology provides tools for creating and doing things.
In kunnskapsløftet it says that students should be able to use digital tools in their learning. this applies in all subjects, and should be helpful in the same way for a primary school, middle school and high school. Smart Board can be used in all classes and it is only imagination that puts an end to creativity.
Students should now learn to use such aids in writing, reading, mathematics, digital maps, making and watching movies, powerpoint presentations, and much more.
A film about how we can use ICT, in a smart way:
New times require new skills!
LMS stands for Learning Management System. The concept LP that stands for learning platform is moving in as a replacement for the LMS.
